Sex Education

Netflix continues their acclaimed streak with yet another astounding tv show.  Sex Education is at glance a simple and raunchy teen tv show, but in reality, it is much deeper than that.  The show follows a scrawny teen boy who seems to be the only kid in his school who is not pursuing or participating in any kind of sexual activity. This all changed when he agrees to run a health clinic with the local edgy outcast. The show manages to hit many different talking points all within the span of 8 episodes. Sex Education deals with body image issues, parenting, anxiety, friendship, LGBTQ issues, bullying, sex lives, and a variety of other real-life issues most teenagers have or will experience. The show is made what it is with it’s witty, genuinely funny, and honest writing. This show is character driven, the vast variety of characters allows you to relate to one, or all of them! The show is only enhanced by the superb and painfully honest performances from Asa Butterfield and Gilliam Anderson. Another reason I love this show is its inclusiveness. We are in an age where representation is seen as one of the most important tasks when producing a project, this show perfectly exemplifies that. Sex Education has heart and it would be a crime to not have this show be renewed for a second season.
